I was a man and not God (Lenin)

I never thought I would live forever
after my horrible end
but I thought
that something like that might happen
that my body would be preserved
for generations to come
in that strange communist church.
I was a man and not God,
not an object of worship.
That's what I objected to.
But that's what I became for years,
until they no longer knew
what to do with me
until I fall into pieces
and there's no use for me anymore.

A note from the poet. Vladimir Lenin still lies in his mausoleum.
