I was just doing my job (Johann Reichhart)

My profession was an executioner. Already in the second generation. I knew that people hated me, but I did my job only for money, without feelings, quickly, professionally. I executed over 3,000 people, guilty or innocent, it didn't matter to me, and it wasn't my job to judge it. It was my job and I was good at it, and I got praise for it. I executed those condemned by the Nazis and then the Nazis. My services were in demand. They hated me in vain, I was just doing my job. A note from a poet. Johann Reichhart was a German executioner who used a German version of the guillotine in his executions.

Thus the prodigal son departed (Fyodor Dostoevsky)

I knew that winter would be my last. The day I died, I coughed up blood, the same blood I wrote with. God showed me a passage from the New Testament. Allow it now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. Thus the prodigal son departed. The man who survived his execution, lost everything gambling. I allowed it to happen. Poet's Note. Fyodor Dostoevsky is one of the classic writers of literature.

How could I have remained silent? (Melika Azizi)

I was only 18 when they condemned me to death, accused of burning symbols of the oppressors. My only crime was that I wanted freedom. To live as I wanted. They will executed me, like so many others. So many people's blood was shed on their clothes. How could I have remained silent? A poet's note. Melika Azizi was comdemned to death in Iran.

I am forever fifteen (Anne Frank)

No one knows when I died. No one knows where my bones rest. I was just one of so many who died, the day I died. I never even turned sixteen, nor did I ever grow up, nor did I ever get married. I am forever fifteen. Without my diary, no one would know I existed, nor would the many who died with me. Poet's Note. Anne Frank died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp and became famous for her diary, which has survived.

Sadness lasts forever (Vincent van Gogh)

Sadness lasts forever. I know that. I couldn't stand it, and neither could my soul. I couldn't wait. I felt peace as I walked through the meadows for the last time. The pain had always returned. I didn't want to wait. I knew I would be great someday, and I knew I wouldn't see it. It was time to say a long goodbye. I couldn't wait. Please forgive me, Theo. A poet's note. Vincent Van Gogh is a world-famous artist who only sold one painting in his lifetime. His brother Theo was his most important supporter.

I died twice (Howard Hughes)

I died twice. Both times on airplanes. The last one was the final one. Yeah. I guess no one really knew me, did I? Some might wonder what happened to me. How did a star-chasing playboy  turn into a hermit  who was afraid of everything. I don't know either. It just happened. I had to. A Poet's Note. Howard Hughes was an eccentric billionaire who completely isolated himself from the world for the rest of his life.

I decided my own fate (Emily Brontë)

You will never know if there was a great love in my life or why I didn't let the doctor see me until it was too late. I decided my own fate. I will remain an enigma to you forever, that's how I want to remain. Alone with my stories. In them you will see me. Poet's Note. Emily Brontë died at only 30 years old, but managed to write Wuthering Heights.

I looked up at the sky one more time (Ayrton Senna)

They said that my heart was still beating even though I was dead. That black weekend I felt that I shouldn't have driven. I had never felt like that before, the race was always the most important thing. I had to win, or the championship would slip away. But the championship didn't seem meaningful either, not like this. My life ended in seconds when I hit a concrete wall. I looked up at the sky one more time, which had given me everything. A poet's note. F1 champion Ayrton Senna died in the 1994 Imola race.

Darkness descended on Moscow (Anna Politkovskaya)

I knew, of course, that I had been followed for a long time, threatened, but it was nothing new. Old Russia was waiting for me in the shadows of the staircase on Putin's birthday. There was nothing to fear in my last steps, I could not fear, because fear rules and someone must tell the truth, even to those who did not want to hear it. A shot, two, I heard no more, darkness descended on Moscow and on me. A poet's note. Anna Politkovskaya was a Russian journalist and Putin critic.

I came back from the dead (Christa Pike)

I came back from the dead, but I didn't get to heaven. I should be dead, but I live and speak. They wanted to kill me, because I deserved it. I had been preparing for 30 years to leave, but when the time came, I came back. I don't know if I will live again, a soul that would have been forgiven and would live. I had already given up my life, spoken my last words. Poet's Note. Christa Pike was sentenced to death, but she survived the execution.

No. I wasn't crazy (Mozart)

No. I wasn't crazy, I was just talking nonsense,  it was just a good story. No. And Salieri didn't hate me, nor poison me, it was just a good story. No. I wasn't thrown into a pauper's grave, it was just a good story, just a common grave. I don't know if I was a genius, it's just that composing came easy to me,  it is a good story. A note from a poet. W.A.Mozart is still the greatest composer in the world.

How ironic (Harry Houdini)

The show should never be left unfinished, and I didn't, I collapsed. How ironic, that a man who defied death should die from the fist of a student boy. Well.  Maybe my body had already taken too many blows, and the last one was the last. Poet´s note. Harry Houdini was a magician and a king of chains

That is a long story (Elisabeth Stride)

My name was Elisabeth Stride, but I was called Long-Liz in the street. The gentleman  who later became known as Jack the Ripper, murdered me in Whitechapel. He didn't mutilate me like an animal, but I couldn't have known that. He left me like trash in the street anyway. In reality I was Elisabeth Gustafsdotter, a peasant woman from Sweden. How I ended up living in Spitalfields,  as a drunk whore in the middle of the filth, is a long story, which would have been forgotten long ago  without Jack the Ripper. Poet's Note. Elizabeth Gustafsdotter, later Elisabeth Stride, was one of Jack the Ripper's victims.
